I think a good idea for a blog post assignment would to combine the progress report for the final project and a blog assignment. There is a great program that can be used to collaborate and brainstorm ideas. The website is called Webspiration.
You can view the idea map at the same time with others from your group. Then as a blog post you could post a screen shot of your brainstorming ideas.
I think that this is a pretty good idea, I have never used this web site but I will be in the near future. This would be a great assignment for the upcoming classes.
